Malta's built environment is defined by Globigerina Limestone — a soft, porous sedimentary stone used in everything from parish churches to private residences. It is also uniquely vulnerable to cleaning methods that are too harsh. Pressure washing drives moisture and pollutants deeper into the stone; chemical treatments can discolour and deteriorate the surface; sandblasting removes material that can never be replaced.
Our laser cleaning system has been specifically set up for use on Globigerina Limestone and other heritage stone. The laser ablates only the contamination — biological crust, traffic pollution, salt crystallisation and staining — leaving the stone substrate entirely unaffected.
