Floor Tile Restoration

Maltese patterned tiles, terrazzo, marble and ceramic brought back, with no water, no acid and no grinding.

Laser Cleaning

The Pattern Is Still Under There.

Half the old floors in Malta have been painted over, tiled over, carpeted over or buried under cement during a past renovation. The patterned tiles underneath are usually still sound. What they are covered in is the problem.

The usual answers all cost you something. Acid washes etch the surface and eat the grout. Grinding takes the pattern off along with the dirt, because on a traditional Maltese tile the pattern is a pigmented layer, not a printed glaze. Wet scrubbing pushes water into a building that then has to dry out.

The laser removes what is sitting on top and stops at the tile. It is dry, controlled and worked area by area, so a paint splash can come off without touching the tile beside it.

We have done this on traditional Maltese cement tiles and we are happy to show you the results. Every old floor still has its own history, so we test a hidden corner or a spare tile on each new job, show you exactly what comes back, and carry on once you are happy with it.

Key Benefits

  • No acid, so the grout and the tile surface are not etched
  • No grinding, so the pattern layer is not cut away
  • Dry process, no flooding and nothing to dry out afterwards
  • Spot work possible, treat one stain and leave the rest alone
  • Tested on a hidden corner and agreed with you before we continue
  • Floor left dry and ready to seal the same day
Why Choose Laser

Kinder to an Old Floor

Pattern Stays

Traditional Maltese tiles carry their design in a pigmented cement layer. We lift the covering off it rather than cutting into it.

No Water

Nothing runs into the joints, under skirting or through to the ceiling below. A dry floor also means no efflorescence weeks later.

No Acid

Acid cleaners bite the grout and dull the surface. There is no chemical here, so nothing is left behind to keep reacting.

You See It First

We prove the result on a hidden tile before the machine goes anywhere visible, so you know what you are getting before we start.

Applications

What We Take Off

Paint & Overspray

Splashes, roller drips and whole floors painted over by a previous owner, lifted off without stripping chemicals.

Cement & Grout Haze

Dried cement, plaster and the grout film left after tiling, removed without the acid wash that normally follows.

Adhesive & Carpet Glue

Bitumen, vinyl adhesive and carpet glue left behind when an old covering comes up off original tiles.

Wax & Sealant Buildup

Decades of polish, wax and yellowed sealer stripped back so the floor can be resealed properly.

Maltese Patterned Tiles

Traditional cement tiles in townhouses and farmhouses, cleaned with the pattern layer treated as the thing to protect.

Terrazzo & Marble

Surface staining, rust marks and grime removed from terrazzo, marble and stone floors and stair treads.

Ceramic & Porcelain

Ingrained dirt, soot and stubborn marks on glazed floors, including the grout lines that never come clean.

Salvaged & Lifted Tiles

Tiles already lifted for reuse can come to the workshop and be cleaned on the bench before they are relaid.

How It Works

Getting Started

Send Us a Photo

A picture of the floor and a close-up of the worst area is usually enough for us to tell you what is realistic.

We Test a Corner

We prove the result on a hidden tile or a spare one first, so you can see exactly what you are going to get.

We Come to You

Floors do not travel, so the machine does. We load the van and work room by room, anywhere in Malta.

Or Bring Them In

Tiles already lifted for reuse can be dropped at our workshop, or we can collect them.

Send Us a Photo of the Floor

Message us a picture and we will tell you what can realistically be recovered. No obligation.
